Michael Bonsdorf is a Danish composer born in the city of Odense in 1965. He holds a master's degree in musicology from the University of Aalborg. In conjunction with his university studies he studied theory and composition with renowned Danish composers Svend Christiansen, Svend Hvidtfelt Nielsen and Niels Marthinsen. Michael Bonsdorf is a member of the Danish Composers Society (www.komponistforeningen.dk) and the composer's society «Komvest». His work has been greatly influenced by a vivid range of composers from J.S. Bach over Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Francis Poulenc, Igor Stravinsky, Sergey Prokofiev, Bela Bartok, Arnold Schönberg, Kurt Weill, George Gershwin, William Walton, N.V. Bentzon, Witold Lutoslawski to Burt Bacharach, whose works continue to be a source of considerable inspiration. Bonsdorf's music is characterized by a clarity in form and poly stylistic expression. Further, his use of repeated themes and vivid melodic phrases give his music a distinctively poetic and flourishing nature.
