Johannes Brahms was a German composer, pianist and conductor, whose compositions are predominantly assigned to the High Romantic period. By simultaneously including classical forms, however, they go beyond them. He was buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery, Vienna, Austria. The present edition of the Cello Sonata op. 38 by Johannes Brahms, in its arrangement for viola and piano, represents a valuable addition to the chamber music literature for viola. It is mainly based on the Urtext editions by G. Henle and UE (Schott / Universal Edition).
