Eric Mayr, born 1962 in Bremen, studied piano (Prof. Birgid von Rohden) and conducting (Prof. Hans Joachim Kauffmann) at Bremen University of the Arts. Since 1993, he has been teaching piano and composition at the Music School in Heidenheim. Mayr mostly writes chamber works, songs and piano music; much of his output is also suited for learners. His publications include two books (as Eric Baumann): the first and, so far, only biography of the composer Ferdinand Loh (1996) and a book on the composer Karl May (2002). Together with his wife, he has written a musical play for children «Mäuse in der Michaelskirche» published by Carus Music publishing.
